The city of České Budějovice, the heart of the South Bohemian Region, is home to the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery, connecting visitors with cultural heritage through its valuable and extensive collections of art objects. The idea behind the design of the new gallery space offers a platform not only for the presentation of art but also for dialogue and understanding of oneself through works of art. The proposed building is thus itself a representation of the story of art. From the artistically designed façade, letting in ambient lighting, to the roof terrace, the gallery building reveals its layers and elements to the visitor in the same way that a work of art always hides more than is apparent at first glance. The design presents the new focal point of the European Capital of Culture 2028, redefining the future of art in the South Bohemia Region.
